Often times people do not realize that one pain can create a series of other problems down the road. If you are experiencing back soreness you may be on the road to many other discomforts or limitations which may not be apparent from the onset. In most cases mild back pain and soreness does not simply disappear, but it escalates to a more serious condition.
Usually back pain starts in one particular area. Someone with the onset of backpain may feel tightness across the mid to upper back region, upper back, or lower back. Or they may experience a mild burning feeling. Soon depending on where the onset of the pain starts the individual will start to compensate for the pain by over stressing other muscles. For example, in many cases with mid back pain if it is more prominant on one side rather than the other, the person will find themselves consciously or subconsciously using the opposite arm to reach for things.
Other conscious or subconscious actions may be more likely to pertain to posture. Someone with back pain may shift their weight when seated to try to find a more comfortable position to elevate some of the tightness or burning they feel in a particular region of their back. Both the compensating in action and/or the shifting of weight when seated or standing can and most likely will cause additional problems.
As the body shifts weight from the center it is likely to not hold the spine in proper alignment causing the proportion of weight on the spine and muscles to be imbalanced. This can lead to muscle fatigue and contribute to the potential misalignments of even more vertabrae or spinal disks. The misaligned spine is probably the underlining problem of back soreness.
A combination of any of the above factors can inhibit the victim with back soreness from wanting to be more active which again in turn can lead to more back stiffness and other health issues down the road. It is important not to ignore the onset of any type of back pain or soreness. Whether it starts with a tightness in a particular region, lower, middle, or upper or it comes on as a sense of mild burning, back pain should not be ignored as it certainly has been proven in many cases to just be the beginning of problems to come. Consult a chiropractor it is usually complimentary.
